Igniters

Unless you're using a pre-made effect, your device will require an igniter. Some igniters are reusable; some aren't. When the igniter is reusable, it's included with the device.

 
Ultra Surefire Igniters™

A 110V/120V igniter. When standard electrical current is supplied via one of our 110V Floor Devices to the igniter leads, a spark is created. These igniters are used in any of our Ultra Flash devices. When used with a low voltage device, be sure to wrap a small piece of dry Pyrowizard Flash Cotton around the head to ensure ignition of your effect, basically creating your own electric match. These are not re-usable (one igniter required per shot). 8 inch insulated zip-wire leads.

Not for use with our Smoke Cartridges. Instead, please purchase our old-style IG03 Surefire Igniters for reliable Smoke Cartridge ignition.

Surefire Igniters™

A 3V igniter. When electricity from a standard battery is applied to the igniter leads the igniter’s nichrome wire will become immediately hot enough to ignite any of our Smoke Cartridges. These igniters only for use in our Smoke Cartridges. They are not re-usable (one igniter required per shot). 8 inch insulated leads.

Not for use with our Ultra or Low V devices. Instead, please purchase our new IG05 Ultra Surefire Igniters for reliable ignition of these types of devices.

Special Nichrome Igniters™

A 120 VAC igniter. 6 inch lengths of non-insulated nichrome wire which burn completely when electricity from a standard electrical outlet is applied to the ends. These igniters are used in the Standard Electric Flash Pot only.

Glo-Plugs

Available in 1-1/2 VDC and 3 VDC. These are reusable igniters and they are included in devices that require them. However, sometimes they burn out, or become broken, and need to be replaced. Follow the directions that accompany your device. A one-battery device uses 1-1/2V Glo-Plugs. A two-battery device uses 3V Glo-Plugs.

Quick Checker II

The Quick Checker II is a continuity tester for checking all Theatre Effects igniters. Continuity on these products cannot be confirmed with most conventional testers, as the test current used will fire the product being tested. The test current of the Quick Checker is just 15 mA, well below the safe limit of 50 mA. To use, simply touch the leads of the match to the two terminals on the tester; if the LED lights, continuity is indicated. The lithium battery (included) lasts for approximately five years. The Checker conveniently hangs from neck or belt. May be the world’s smallest continuity checker tester. Featured in TCI’s 1998 "Bride of Widgets We Love".
