Lighting Technics

Overview

Consistent with our goal to be your "one stop special effects shop", we carry a wide variety of lighting equipment that can be used to create special effects. These products are used in such diverse applications as professional theater, Halloween haunted houses, kids' bedrooms, and everything in-between. We also carry a few non-effects items, such as followspots, simply for your convenience.

As in Pyrotechnics, the effect dictates the means.

If you want to light up an area the cheapest way you can, then you need PAR's.

If you want to spotlight or highlight a particular area, then you need Followspots or Pinspots.

If you want to project a rotating image onto a wall, then you need a Roto Gobo.

If you want to make the image move from left to right, then you need Gobo Scanners.

If you want to make fluorescent items and white shirts "glow", then you need Blacklights.

If you want to create a "slow motion" effect, then you need Strobelights.

If you want to disorient the people in your haunted house, then you need Strobelights or PAR's (if directed into their faces).

If you want to create a rippling water effect, then you need an Aquasplash.

If you want to install some long tubes of colored lighting, where lights seem to "flow", then you need Duralight w/ Chaser or Ropelight w/ Chaser.

If you want to install lengths of tube lighting in the floor, so people can see where they are going, then you need Duralight.

If you want to make your party "cool", then you need a Home Party Kit, Water Column, Le Flame, Blacklights, Strobelights, all of the party lights.

If you want to make red laser designs on the wall, then you need a Laserburst.

If you want to make a "laser tunnel" through fog, then you need a Laserburt.

If you want to use a lit candle, but the fire marshal won't let you, then you need Electronic Flicker Candles, or Flickering Flame Bulbs.

If you want to hang one of those crystal balls that makes the spots go around the room, then you need a Mirror Ball with Motor and Pinspots.

If you want to make people think a police car is coming, then you need a Police Beacon and Siren.

If you want to outline your costume with neon-like tubing, then you need Glow Wire.

If you want to make your PARS lighter and darker as required, then you need Lighting Control - Dimmers.

If you want to make your PARS flash to the beat of the music, then you need Lighting Control - Chasers

If you want to shine a circle of light on the stage, and move it left to right, then you need Followspots.

If you want to change the color of your white lights, then you need Color Filters (Gel Paper).

If you want to hang your stuff, then you need Mounting Hardware.

SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT LIGHTING ITEMS!

  1. Every light that we sell comes with its required bulb(s).
  2. Club/DJ Lights having bulbs 100W or larger are special effects. A special effect is meant to be used on an intermittent basis. (It won't be very special if you turn it on and leave it on all night.) These lights have a maximum duty cycle of 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, or overheating may occur. Exceptions are lights with bulbs of 50W or less, and the Laserburst.
  3. The terms "lamp" and "bulb" are synonymous.
  4. PAR's are sold with bulb and clamp.
  5. Mirror Balls are typically used with one motor and two pinspots.
  6. Gobo Scanners should be used on an intermittent basis or overheating may occur. (Maximum 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off.)
